If you wanted to setup a web sight and host it from your own pc? Useing windows 2000, do you have to use ISS or is there a better one out there. (Software of some kind) For example you could use ISS for a ftp server but a lot of people use serv-u or g6ftp server to host ftp's..

Just curious what all you opinions are..

Thanks

You don't have to use IIS. There's lots of other web servers out there that do the job quite nicely for small static pages. Check out Tucows list of web servers for Windows 2000.

One other thing.. When you connect to your ISP you might get a different address each time which makes it difficult to serve a web page from your place. Check out DynDNS. They will allow you to make a "mycomputer.dyndns.org" name on the Internet that always points to your PC. Works nicely for me and it's free!
