Good to hear.

I bet this company's phone have been going nuts in the last day.

The person who complained should be sent back to Africa as well. We are nice enough to take you in and this is how you repay our gratitude?

Always nice to see the latent racism in all republicans surface. I don't remember object worship as a requirement for living in the US, but I guess simple minds need something to focus on.

i guess you have never raised your right hand and taken the oath of allegiance while looking at the American flag have you?

You are aware that it isn't required? Also a pledge from school children doesn't mean anything, its mindless repetition.

has the IQ of PN dropped or am i just getting smarter? well i guess it doesn't matter because the oath of citizenship is required to become a naturalized citizen of our country. just curious why you think it is not.

The United States Oath of Allegiance (officially referred to as the "Oath of Allegiance," 8 C.F.R. Part 337 (2008)) is an oath that must be taken by all immigrants who wish to become United States citizens.

He said that a citizen does not have to take the pledge of allegiance. He didn't say a naturalized citizen never had to take an oath. They were talking about schoolchildren.

I was born here and no one made me say it.

Who said anything about object worship??

All we are asking is that she tolerate the flag that represents the county THEY chose to live in.

So she can come here for her freedom but not her freedom of speech?

?? so her freedom of speech can trump another persons? its not a issue of freedom of speech its about being offended which is not a freedom. well maybe it is, i have the freedom to offend you if you don't like it too fucking bad.

Yes, it would be less racist is a nation was specified.

To be honest, I do not trust this story at all. As others have posted above, it seems like a fluff propaganda piece. The Africans hate America!!!11cos0!!

Africa is a race? wow i did not know that

Thank you! /tips hat

it was a two part response. the first part was directed at the oath of allegiance and the second part was about the pledge of allegiance.

if she is a naturalized citizen of our country and the flag of our country offends her then she needs to go back to her home country.

So you were asking about an oath that a very small minority of American Citizens have to take?

The complaint was the 3'X5' flag on a stand (9' tall) was too big for a shared three person office. No one was offended by anything other than the space it was taking up. All you flag fetish worshipers, faux patriots need to get some facts straight.

Fuck that. Freedom of Speech. She has every right to be offended if she wants.

Suggesting that someone has to leave the country for disagreeing with you is more prevalent in PN than Godwin's law.

There SHOULD be a law that permits any US citizen to display an American flag at their home or workplace. NO HOA restrictions (other than perhaps oversized flags and flagpoles) NO WORKPLACE restrictions except to prohibit flags that are obviously too big for the area.

A 3' X 5' flag may be too big for an office, but she should be able to have something smaller, say a 12" x 18" flag.

At the same time, we need a law that prohibits any US flag or flag replica, decoration, etc. from being made anywhere BUT in the USA.

NO FUCKING CHINESE-MADE US FLAGS.

If it's the symbolism of the flag that matters, why do you care where it is made?

If anything, lower priced flags will be easier for the American people to purchase and display, especially in this economic downturn.

That computer you're typing all your anti-Chinese sentiment on is Chinese made.

We do not need to worship our symbols. America is stronger than the symbol.

The article should have specified which African country from which she emigrated. I doubt a news article would ever call someone a "European immigrant" or "Middle Eastern immigrant."

It doesnt really matter which country it was. This is not about racism, its about being offended by the flag of a country you freely choose to come to. It could have been a French woman who was offended and it would still be the same outcry of send her back to France then.

Thinking of Africa as one country, comparable to France, is racist. I'm not necessarily calling out any posters here, but the news article is racist.

Man this guy calls racism on everything LOL.

How can an American NOT care where the symbol of his country is made? WHY would you buy an American flag from a Communist country? Just to save a couple of bucks?
Supporting America and American labor is worth a couple of extra dollars here and there...at least to me.

As for the computer parts...blame the evil corporations for that. It pisses me off to no end...but, since I have ZERO US made options, I live with it.

For all of you who believe that sending US jobs to foreign countries is OK if we save a few bucks, what will happen when YOUR job is sent to India or China?

Can't happen?

Freedom of speech doesn't apply on private business property. I can't walk into my office and hang whatever I want on the wall.

Threads like this and the segregated prom thread should be required reading for all people thinking of immigrating to the US. It truly is not the land of freedom they think they are getting
