Sorry, gomer question about new tires

Hi guys,

Should balancing be included in a new tire set price? In my experience, it was a no-charge thing. Same with mounting. But that doesn't seem to be the case at this new place. EDIT: Finally get through to customer service. They are charging $13.95 per tire to balance them. Doesn't this seem high? It's Townfaire, btw.

Got a car nearing the end of its life, but the potholes up here in RI are so shitty the steel band broke on the front right. All the tires are getting shot, so I may as well replace all of them.

15-25 for mounting & balancing is usual to me. $25 if they use the latest/greatest hunter machine.

All that matters is out the door price. That's what you need to ask for. who cares if they charge $15 for balancing if the tire is $20 cheaper than xyz tire store?

My local tire/speed shop lists everything out. Mounting, balancing, valve stems, all are line items. But their out the door price matches costco, so it makes no different to me.

With the internet now days everyone wants super low pricing on their item, so before a lot of places offered free mounting and balancing and just jacked up the price of the tires to cover that. Now everyone wants places to match tirerack or other sites, so the tire prices are lower but making you pay for the mounting and balancing makes up for it.

Like SpatiallyAware said - just compare OTD prices.
