ok, I have a Dell XPS T500 which has installed a 128MB PC100 RAM chip, my question is, can I install a second chip that is PC133 RAM.

From what I understand I can, but the PC133 will just run at PC100, but this will leave me the option of swapping in the PC133 chip if I ever upgrade my MOBO and CPU, and since the PC100 and PC133 are currently priced the same, I'd rather get the PC133 if it will work.

Again, thanks for any help.

Absolutely.

That is correct.

Depending the the os that you are using now, more RAM is better.

From what I've been hearing, (Dell) uses Intel motherboards. Is this true?

I'm using Win98SE, and yes, I believe it's an Intel Motherboard, 440BX chipset.

I run 384 MB on both my systems that are running Win98 SE. 256 MB is more than enough for this os.

You should be fine with 256.

Thanks for the help Rankor.

A couple other things if anyone has an opinion or some advice to give, I noticed PC133 seems to only support processors/MOBO's as high as 1GHZ, and when I do upgrade in the future it will probably be at least a 1.4 GHZ machine, so it looks like PC133 will not work with that any how. Is that correct?

Now if that's the case should I just buy the PC100, or are the still any advantages by going with PC133. Also, could the fact one is 133 and the other is 100 even though they will run together fine possibly cause any problems, or would the 133 in fact run no different then if it were a PC100 chip.

Anyway, sorry if I'm being too paranoid :) but I'm about to order the RAM from crucial.com and just want to be sure, and I really do appreciate the help.

Thanks,
Ed

P.S. I don't think it makes a difference but I am going to get the 256MB chip instead of the 128 since it's only about $20 more.
