Read two posts up, you dork. :p

Even if it's the end of the btefnet website (which I doubt) the MPAA can't kill btefnet the IRC channel/group. They never have been able to and never will be able to. Such is the beauty of IRC.

I miss DALnet. :p

Ah, but of course. Why couldn't I see that a truly intelligent soil conservation effort is what we need in this situation?

It the networks had even a thimbleful of brain they would offer up the episodes(with all ads included) for free. Why would anybody bother with other sites if they could get it from the source?

The entertainment business is run by assholes who would rather hire lawyers to handle everything rather than actually think of a simple answer to their problems.

The #BT Website is currently down. Releases are on hold, possibly for the entire night, until we have a better understanding of the current situation. We have NOT been sued! Please be patient and do not PM the ops. We will keep you guys updated.

3200 people in the channel now.

Let's start talking about alternatives. I can think of search engines, and other places that list them, but no other place that lists them as systematically where you can just refresh to see the order new ones were added, and they are also added so quickly. The other sites are so disorganized, its ridiculous....

Any other alternatives that are that neat?

And their IRC channel is still working, right?

I have mIRC, but it has been years and years since I've really used it. Could someone pleeeeeeeeease take a couple of minutes out and go over how to properly use it? As in how to log onto the correct server (I did that with assitance of their page - now gone) and the commands to get files (I just couldn't remember).

Thanks so much in advance to the person who leaves the IRC help. Or links to a page with the info!

in mIRC, connect to any efnet server ... then join "#BT" (or type /join #BT) ... as for downloading files within IRC, check the triggers for the channel... they usually vary by channel and broadcast the command every few minutes.

They have +m in the channel, so triggers won't work and you won't be able to speak.
I guess they were getting POed by everyone asking what was going on.

So are you saying now that the channel is useless?

And how do I "check the triggers"?

How does IRC work? Why can't it be shut down like any other server?

mIRC is a program. The protocol is IRC (Internet Relay Chat). So the correct phrase would be "Someone might want to tell me the IRC Channel."

The MPAA is banking on the fact that you will schedule time to actually tune in during the airtime... thus catch the commercials. Downloading these means no commercials at all. That's the only reason I can come up with.

It's funny because the previous Supreme Court decision about "Time Shifting" pretty much contradicts what the MPAA is claiming. While cable may be a different matter, nobody has ever signed or agreed to any terms that say "I promise I will watch the commercials with this broadcast TV show." There are laws against profiting from the resale/redistribution of broadcast TV, which is probably how the MPAA will wind up going after btefnet and others, but saying that "trimming the commercials out is illegal" is crap.

Oh yes, as I've mentioned eight billion times: The Pirate Bay. The Pirate Bay. THE PIRATE MOTHERF%$#ING BAY
