Hey guys, I have a very specific use for the machine i want to build and i have read so many posts and forums that i have no idea what i'm doing anymore.
Okay so here is the deal, i do multiple levels of video encoding and editing. I have a gigabit lan set up and have two computers setup for viewing my work in other rooms. For other reasons i need to get as fast of a data transfer as i can between my two existing computers and this system. Gaming is of interest to me but is not a necessity.
Here is what i have so far
Koolance PC-2 watercooling case
Antec 430 w True power (someone was telling me this may not be enough if i was interesting in attempting overclocking...any thoughts)
Radeon 9800 XT
2x wd 250GB caviars (i have two more but i was thinking of getting 2 36 gb raptors to fill the other two available hdd bays in the tower)
Audigy 2 ZS platinum

I guess my real question is...i need to get the best data transfer i can and need the best performance i can get for my video editing/encoding

i want to spend a maximum of 400-450 on my mobo and processor but of course less is better cuz i can then afford other stuff (mebbe 76gb raptors???) ...what kind of mobo and processor should i get???

Can you also recommend some memory so i can try my hand at oc'ing???
BTW thanks for all the help! =)

In both computers you should have 1Gb or 10Gb ethernet installed and both computers should have SCSI (or if you can't do that 76GB Raptors). And for the encoding machine go with a P4.

Just a small note the audigys are not that great compared to other sound cards and overpriced (and not worth it). If you want good ones look at RME and m-audio.

hmm ...well i already have an audigy 2 platinum on hand so no extra cost there...audio editing for me isn't as important as the video tho...thanx for the help tho
