I'm sooo excited...finally got my AIW 8500 card from beviet here on AT. If you're looking to do business with the guy, he's a great guy...i'll leave him ++ feedback tonight. Should i upgrade the drivers? Any software that i should *NOT* install? Any other tips?

Excellent, I have a 7500 AIW and just started capturing video last night. I would download the Catalyst Drivers from ATI. But you will need to install the AIW suite from the disk to get all the features to work correctly. Well at least I did.

Just download the latest drivers from ATI. I bought a new AIW8500 just before Christmas, and the driver that shipped didn't work well with some games. The driver on the website was better.

I have a AIW 8500DV and I'm using it for a HTPC, I haven't gotten around to it yet but go and download Girder so you can program your Remote Wonder buttons.

I paid 110 for my 7500 AIW back in August, Amazon had a deal on it.

Open up the tvguide. Find shows that you liked "back in the day". Record them...

Go play some games - you probably aren't going to see a big difference vs. your old vid card neffing on the forums!

Ok thanks but it is $133 now in Amazon!
But I found the All-In-Wonder Radeon 8500DV 64MB DDR NTSC/DVD/FIREWIRE/DVI-I for $150 after rebate and is really tempting!

This is something I would never tell anyone.
ha ha, me too

Nice card. I've got the vanilla 8500 myself. Just did a fresh install on my system cause I nuked DirectX. Whoops. Grab yourself a copy of ragetweaker and hit up the rage3d forums. Tons of info for getting the best out of your card.

The 8500DV is powered down as opposed to the regular speeds of the 8500 line... so I'd download a utility called Powerstrip and overclock it, if you're having trouble playing games... the fastest I could OC it was 275/225... I think stock is like 250/200... have a fan near the chip too, it gets HOT.

Software wise, it was a major PITA for me, always have to have the latest and greatest drivers, but don't let that discourage you. The Remote Wonder was cool as all hell, and I actually miss it (saving up for the 9700 AIW)...
