Sooo I am going to Big Bend (almost forcefully)

All of the sudden Dad says tomorrow early morning we are going to Big Bend on a rented Jeep.

Houston --- > Big Bend is about 650 miles

I am gonna drive, he will drive. 🙁

What to do?

I mean all of teh sudden...I hate that

It is great out there and the drive is not that bad. I drove all the way to Phoenix from Houston at the end of January in 18 hours straight through by myself.

Oh, and I was in BB before, year or so ago. It's a nice place. JUst the suddennes of this bothers me...

Get used to it. Some of my best memories are from spontaneous trips like that.
My mom and aunt were remembering a time years ago when I called them up and asked if they wanted to go to Washington DC tomorrow with me. ( We are in Washington STATE😉 )
I had to fly out on business and had a couple of empty seats.
To hear them talk about it tonight, it was the best trip ever.

Ugh, I do a 1200 mile round trip at least once a month, sometimes twice. Its not that bad. Keep in mind I pay $3.25/gal for gas too...

That's funny, I posted a thread tuesday or wednesday about how I'd just gotten back and it was awesome/beautiful/a great experience.

Don't be a douchebag and sulk. Enjoy it and you'll have a great time.

The road trip isn't bad (I also live in Houston, at Rice U.), so don't worry about that. We left in the afternoon, took a long dinner break on the riverwalk in san antonio, and made it around 1 or so am.

On the way back we left at noon, ate in san antonio again, and made it back to rice around midnight.

May I suggest that your trip will be marginally more comfortable (after all, you are going in a Jeep) if you travel IN the Jeep rather than ON it.

Just came back for a few mins (poor planning) but I like that gray Jeep Commander alot! 🙂 ANd I'll try to ride IN it 😛
