Well, document syncing only works with iWork and certain apps right now as far as I know, so it's not super useful, and Dropbox takes care of that task quite nicely.
Agreed, this one needs time to develop. If Apple develops a dropbox competitor...
Exchange also supports syncing contacts, calendar, and mail as far as I know. You don't even need iCloud for that stuff. It's been available on iOS for a long time, too.
Requires exchange...which does not apply to non-corporate users
Photo syncing is arguably a novelty, and I find that there have been dozens of apps in the App Store that do the same thing, but also work via LAN, and work across both Mac and PC.
Agreed, but the point I was making is no searching through the app store necessary
Find my phone is no question as it's an Apple app.
Yes but I'm sure they have FindMyDroid too
I think the convenience of iCloud is that it just requires a sign in and some minimal setup, as opposed to other services.
No arguments there, but where you view it as a bad thing I view it as a good thing
my thoughts above. I seriously agree that iCloud has been a bit of a letdown for me. HOWEVER, I have faith that Apple will bring intelligent solutions to iCloud after several iterations - I mean they built a 750M data center for this stuff.
