Maybe the main reason shot right over your head. I'm saving 18% to switch from AT&T to Verizon. I also mentioned various other reasons. Go find another thread to shit on please.

I think your rationale for switching is flawed (Phone experience is primarily OS driven and iPhones tend to hold up better over time despite less cores and less RAM). That being said I think it is definitely worth it to try something new. I haven't tried Windows OS yet other than playing with phones in the store. I don't think I ever will since there are not many good apps. Also I don't expect that to change in the next two years either.

If the idea of a Windows phone interests you then go for it. In the end only you can decide what features are most important, which is why you will never get a consensus here (or anywhere) as to what platform is "the best". I have used all three as daily drivers and each them does something better than the others. What you prioritize is what makes the decision for you. I ran with an iPhone for two years and that was enough for me to know it wasn't the platform for me (despite it being a very good platform). Windows Phone is pretty much the same for me. My first priority is being able to customize anything I want and to this point only Android fits that description. Both the iPhone and WP are much more locked down platforms.

If absolute interface smoothness was my top priority then Android would probably be my last choice.

If app quality and selection was my first choice then WP would be my last choice.

OP your reasons for wanting to leave the iPhone are weak IMO. If you are curious to try WP or Android, cool, but your gonna leave iOS because the base model (might) still be 16 GB and running on 1 GB of RAM?

The irony is that the iPhone 6 is the phone Apple should have released, size wise, in 2012, not 2014.

I can't speak for WP. Personally I don't like the UI. Android is great and if you'll consider the platform I'd suggest the G3, Moto X successor being announced tomorrow, or the Note IV, also unveiled tomorrow. Personally I'm leaning towards the iP6.

At least up here in Kanuckistan, it's often difficult to replicate the savings of a corporate plan with a consumer plan.

Wouldn't a 5.5" iP6 be a new phone? Or do you want to change operating systems for some reason? I have all three and to be honest I reach for the iPhone more than anything else. I don't even carry the windows phone any more and the Android phone is neat and fun, but (for me) the iPhone just seems to work better for my job.

I think we've gotten a little off topic. Who cares why he's switching and how much he's saving. He wants to switch carriers. Check. He thinks wants to get off of iOS and onto Windows Phone. Check.
Lets try to help him out with this and not confuse him.

What about if you waited for the new iPhone 6 to come out and then sign up on Verizon and then go on eBay and buy a used Nokia 928/icon. Try out Windows Phone. If you like, then keep the Windows Phone and sell the iPhone 6 for a huge profit. If you don't like Windows Phone, keep the iPhone 6, and sell the Windows Phone back on eBay.

Yeah, that's why I'm asking. I'm thinking he might have made the common mistake of taking 18% off the entire service charge instead of just the main plan like it actually applies, so wanted to make sure since service quality doesn't seem to be a reason to switch or at least hasn't been mentioned yet.

My cousin loves the Windows OS over the Android OS in terms of interface and basic OS operations. However, if you're the type of person that loves to download a bunch of the latest random apps to try out, you'll be sorely disappointed at the selection.

So in a nutshell, if you're not a big app person, I think you'll find the Windows OS pretty nice.

I would give Windows Phone a shot. Like the other guy said, if you don't have to have the latest app of the month, then WP is actually pretty good. Also on Verizon, you can try a phone out and I believe you have 14 days to return it.

If you are dead set on Windows phone, there is no other phone to consider beyond the M8. All the reviews I've seen have been great (aside from the ultrapixel camera). But if you are not a photo buff and have just basic needs, even the ultrapixel camera takes decent shots.

Best is subjective, but on Android, "ubiquitous" is an advantage, for app compatibility.

That would mean Samsung Galaxy S4 or perhaps Galaxy S5, or a Google Nexus. The Nexus line isn't as ubiquitous, but it's the default gold standard since Google makes it and its relatively inexpensive.

I would say the M8 Android version or the LG G3 as of today, but Moto is going to be announcing the new Moto X within a week and there are rumors of a Nexus X to be coming out soon that looks amazing. If you can wait a while I would.

Aside from OEM specific apps I haven't found any app incompatibility issues on any of my Android devices. I think this is a thing of the past.

I encountered this issue as recently as late last year.

I haven't encountered this since but that's because I'm down to only a Nexus 7 now.

Depends on what you are looking for- size, price, specs, camera, etc.

The two major reasons I can think of to switch to Android from iOS:

1. Potentially cheaper
2. More freedom to modify your phone
