Soo somebody stole my CC number...

My mother calls me this morning to tell me that UPS just dropped off the camera I ordered...wait a min, I didn't order any camera. So I head home to check it out. Sure enough there is a box from tigerdirect with a nice sony cybershot sitting in it. Name is mine, phone number is mine, but hey wait thats not my address. Well I check the CC statement and sure enough I bought not 1 but 3 different digital cameras since the 14th but the other two haven't shipped yet.

Well this is all news to me since I haven't even taken the card out of my wallet since the middle of Jan. We call the cc company and tell them about it and they cancel the card and tell us not to worry about the charges. We were lucky to get the first one. For some reason ups didn't take it to the address on the package they just used the name and phone number to sort it. All in all they charged up around $1700. I just wonder how this is going to affect my credit in the long run

*Cliffs*
1. Camera arrives at home that nobody bought.
2. Check cc statement and notice ~$1700 worth of charges on there that I didn't make
3. CC is canceled and I'm not responsible for the charges
4. Wonders how this will affect my credit.

Guess I was lucky... all they did with my CC was have a couple of pizzas delivered. (Yes, I said delivered. Not the brightest people in the world.)

A few years ago someone bought $6k worth of tools online using one of my CC's

My CC comp. reamed the business, they accepted the purchase with a wrong exp. date, and billing address east coast, ship to Idaho :Q

Some idiot used my card to put down as a deposit for his Direct TV sub. He cancelled and never returned the equipment and I had a nice $400 charge on my CC.

Well you have their address, go find them? If you gave it to the ccard company, they may try to figure out who was at that address, since it's likely they're stealing more than just your card #

Yep, should not be to hard too find them. 😛

I love my CitiBank and MBNA credit cards which offer unique one time use cc's 🙂

Useful for shady online merchants, magazibe subscriptions, trial offers, etc.

We gave it to the police yesterday. It's in the projects so we really didn't feel like rollin' up in there and making accusations.

Call Experian and put a fraud alert on your SSN. Experian will notify the other two credit bureaus.

No, tigerdirect wants the camera back. They even offered to pay for return shipping, how nice of them. -_-

Tell them to go screw themselves if they don't offer return shipping.
