Ok, in the upper right part of the X800XL, above and to the right of the fan, there's a vacant 4 pin slot.. we can't figure out what goes there, or what it's for.

Any idea?

Near the top of the card, to the right of the fan, there is a 4pin connector, it is the same size as the regular 3 pin fan connectors, but has a 4th pin. A regular fan connector wont fit in there. Does anyone know what this is for?

IF you cross connect pin 1 to pin 3 and pin 2 to pin 4&1 it remaps the core to give you the performance of 12 x1800xt's!

I have no clue, I just popped my case open, and my ATI x800XL has the same mysterious plug in

The only thing I could imagine would be something like a JTAG debugging port. Usually those are only on engineering samples, though.

Does it look like it's connected to anything?

at this rate of new cards comming out sonz70 will have to go back to work to get his SLI 7800GTX 512 cards.
