Has anyone seen or used the newly released SDM-X82 LCD flat panels from Sony? Here's a LINK of the specs. All the specifications looks good but I'm uncertain about the response time:

Rise Time: 20ms
Fall Time: 30ms

Does that mean it has a response time of 52ms or is it 25ms?

Thanks for your input!

Pixel response specs typically are rise + fall = total in this case 50ms. Compared to most other LCD's on the market 50ms is quite slow.

That is slow indeed. I thought Sony would improve their response times to compete with other LCD manufacturers such as NEC, Philips, and Samsung but it appears they haven't.

It appears to me that Sony has never really gone after the LCD market aggressively to compete with those guys.

Dell has a good deal on it.
X82/B black color $900 after 10% off coupon, and there is $50 rebate from Sony.

The spec of X52 is good, close to Eizo L365/NEC 1550M.

I second that. You have any idea how many people would look past a better system (cheaper or priceier), for a Sony?

As far as I am concerned, the Apple Cinema HD display is what I will spend my pretty $$$$$ on. It is simply amazing monitor, but definetely pricey! Check it out, even Alienware is using them.

I was looking around Alienware and it seems they use exclusively NEC panels? Maybe you could provide a link?

I was disappointed to see the X82's response time listed as 50MS

BUT:

The upcoming X72's response time is 35MS

I looked at seperately connected flat panels at best buy yesterday
(only store that has each one hooked to a machine)

and

to my eyes, the Sony's looked the best......but they had no NEC's
to speak of.

With DVI the Sony would probably look unbeatable!

People are slamming Sony for the 18's response time......but when
you look at Dell small biz selling it for 730.00 after rebate, it
really makes it a budget screen compared to other 18's out there........
