Sony announced two new handhelds, the PEG-NR70 and PEG-NR70V. Both units sport built-in keyboards via a clamshell design, 320 by 480 color screens, built-in MP3 and ATRAC3 audio players, and the PEG-NR70V has a built-in camera placed along the hinge of the clamshell design. Both models will be using Motorola's 66 MHz Dragonball SuperVZ processor, running Palm OS 4.1. AS has become the Palm high-end standard, both units will have 16mb RAM, but an astounding 10mb of Flash ROM. The camera on the NR70V can take images with 100,000 pixels. It will save images up to 320x240 in PG Pocket format. Another oft-resquested innovation makes it's way onto the series with these units, Virtual Graffiti. Prices for the NR70V will be 59,800 Yen ($465 USD), while the NR70 will sell for 49,800 Yen ($385 USD). For now, it would seem these units are only available in Japan. The NR70 is set for release March 23, while the NR70V released on April 13. Sony has yet to announce when these new units may be available outside Japan, or if the pricing would remain consistent for foreign markets.
