Sony's DNAS system for PS2

Just wondering if anyone knows, how does DNAS, the online authentication system for PS2 games, work? And what is not allowed on there?

I borrowed a game from my friend and I'm wondering whether I'll get him into trouble or even banned by going online to download some extras using his game (but my PS2).
