http://www.androidsas.com/2014/01/sony-sirius-is-xperia-z2-reliable.html

About a week ago, we have seen a Sony mysterious device codenamed 'Sirius' and now according to our sources, the 'Sirius' is the codename for the Sony Xperia Z1 successor Xperia Z2 and Sony will unveil the Xperia Z1 successor at the MWC as we all know that the Sony Sirius was tipped to launch at the MWC 2014 and the device is rumored to feature a 5.2 inches of display having resolution of 2560 x 1440 which is similar to the Xperia Z2 rumored display size.

Sony 'Sirius' is the Xperia Z2, reliable source confirmed it

Not only this, all the rumored specs of the Sony Sirius are similar to the Xperia Z2 rumored specs and according to our sources, the Japanese manufacturer is working on the Xperia Z2 aka Sirius and we will see this device in the MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2014. The Sony Xperia Z2 aka Sirius will also feature a 20.7 megapixel of camera along with a 3700mAH of battery and the device will be the super slim and of course, the Z2 will also be water resistant, the Mobile Bravia Engine 3 with modified X-Reality for mobile also included in the specs of the Sony Xperia Z2 aka Sirius.

Well, this time you don't have to take this information as a pinch of salt because this information comes out from a very reliable source, so we should get ready for the Sony Xperia Z2 at the MWC 2014.

Did Sony ever fix the problem with unlocking bootloader bricking the camera?

Smaller bezels
Better ergonomics
No absurdities (e.g. TN panel, unremovable screen protector)

And fix the waterproofing mechanism to something more user-friendly and durable.

Not sure of the 20 MP camera - I am not too picky when it comes to photos - but I guess it's a progress.

sounds like everyone is starting to use these 2560x1440 5.25" screens. I wonder who the supplier is....

The only thing "wrong" with the panels was they had bad viewing angles. Not surprisingly, some people actually purchase filters so that nosey people do not look at their phones. Therefore, some would consider the poor viewing angle a feature. Anyway, the point may be moot since the Z1 Compact is now using an IPS screen, which suggests that SONY's new phones will also come with an IPS display.

All that aside, with Japan and Europe established and growing, SONY will now start taking the United States and China more seriously, with the Xperia Z2 rumored to come to Verizon as well. I'm really looking forward to this phone.

Yep, that was fixed ages ago.

SONY uses Japan Display (JD) and Sharp. I know Sharp has a panel with that resolution but not sure about JD. The only other manufacturer of such high end small panels is LG but SONY does not use them.

I hope they add in OIS. I don't mind a *little* budge on the camera if they have OIS.

If only it was just the viewing angles. My Xperia SP white balance is way too warm, grey text on white readability is horrible thanks to the lousy contrast ratio, I have no idea why the hell won't Sony just use run-of-the-mill IPS screens that doesn't suck as hard like everybody else. I have used Sony myself so I know what I'm talking about, and I have used cheap China phones with screens that are way, way better.

Holy cow, the Z1 used a TN panel? That's crazy. Haha.

I don't think so, it was just some weird VA variant I believe...and it was a panel lottery. The bad one was probably leftovers from the original Xperia Z, these tended to wash out when going off angle, but IIRC there was never any outright inversion like you'd see on TN. The good panel pretty much looks like the Z Ultra's panel, which is pretty good.

Didn't the SPs have something called White Magic? Maybe that's the issue here.

SONY used displays from Japan Display and Sharp. The Sharps were widely considered to be better.

Still the same Sony with the big ass bezels.
Sony was like the first to have a big phone with minimal bezels in the ZL.
What the hell happen after that ??
The ZL still have the smallest footprint for a 5" phone. 131.6x69.3

The zl isn't waterproof, the z1 is and the z2 most likely is too, im sure that has something to do with it.

The ZL and Z came out at the same time for different types of people...
