Sony XBR9 52inch issue

Hey guys my mom called and said her tv wasnt working so I went over to see what was wrong. She just moved and before hand everything worked fine, so I thought something was hooked up wrong. I get over there and the cable wiring is a mess, it went from TWC to Dish back to TWC so cable wire was everywhere. I called the cable company and they are sending someone out to re wire all the able from the pole into the house and everything in the house for free since I threw a big fit about the quality of their work.

Here is the weird issue I am having tho. I hooked up a dvd player to her tv, I tried component 1 and 2. I get audio from both 1 and 2 but I dont get video from wither one. My mom is really pissed she bought this tv like a year ago new off amazon for $2,200.
I just dont understand how can I get audio and no video? I tried a set of basic composite cables and I got audio but no video still. The dvd player doesnt have hdmi or I would of tried that.

If anyone has any ideas please chime in here. I googled it but didn't find anything helpful, just alot of happy customers. But in our case my mom isn't happy. I just can't figure this out and I am open to any ideas

Was the dvd player previously connected with component? A lot of older dvd players need to be switched to component.

Otherwise if you don't have another TV do you have another source?

I don't exactly remember the XBR9 setup but some Sonys need to have the input switched to component as the green functions as one of the composite inputs

Good luck with the TV.

PS, its not the cable company's job to get your dvd player working.

It's the cable companies job to fix the shit cable wiring job they did in the house, why would you think I expect them to mess with the DVD player LOL? I switched the input source to component 1 then comp 2 then hdmi and I could not get signal at all for the video but I sure got audio

I tried hooking my xbox up to it today and the same thing audio but no video. I have no clue what is going on, I'm sure it's probably something little and stupid tho

That is not a good sign. Do you have an HDMI source you can try and connect (a laptop with DVI out would work with a DVI->HDMI cable)?

That Sony has 2 Component Video inputs on the back panel.
One is Fixed and always works.
The other is Selectable and would need to be configured in the
Video Menu
