GoodGuys.com Link

Best price I could find on this particular TV. $699.99 - 10% off ($69.99) = $630.00 shipped / no tax. Add to cart to get the auto 10% off.

UPDATE: I noticed that mysony.com (member-driven site) has the same model for $599.00. You have to spend some of your member pts to get it though and they charge tax (for CA it was around another $50 in tax). So overall, unless you're in OR or some state that has low/no tax, it's probably not worth it.

2nd Update: Good Guys B&M also has a great deal on the HDTV version of this set. The 32" Hi-Scan WEGA (KV32HS500) is $999.99.

Seems like a good deal. No tax really makes a difference on high $ purchases.

Oh yeah - you guys might want to consider getting the 3 yr extended warranty b/c I've heard these have a rather large return rate due to a buzzing problem that occurs a year after purchase.

Can you tell us where you "heard" this? Link, perhaps?

There's no specific link - but I can tell you that I used agoraquest for a lot of my Wega research. It's the unofficial Sony forums board - and under television - problems - there's quite a bit on this.

The Sony site - Sony Style also has this model for 699.99 with free premier shipping.
I added it to the cart and no tax showed up for New York. The premier shipping looks like a good deal - they unpack it and install it at your house.

Anyone knows about the warranty info?

Unofficial Sony TV forums

There does seem to be a lot of complaining about Sony TVs in general here. But I suppose any TV manufacturer would get something similar if there were a forum devoted to them...

Consumer Reports puts the "repairs and serious problems" index for Sony 31/32" TVs at under 5% and around the middle of the pack in terms of other manufacturers. CR also gave the model a "good" or "very good" rating in each of the categories and had this to say:

RECOMMENDATION & NOTES: Good if pricey flat-screen set. Very good onscreen menu. Has adjustable color temperature. Can receive Extended Data Services (XDS) program information, if available. EnergyStar compliance claimed. Lacks channel block-out. Rear jacks are poorly labeled. Short (3-month) labor warranty. 30.50 x 38.75 x 25 in. (HWD)

KEY FEATURES: A number of important features--including a universal remote, closed-caption reception, and ample audio-video input jacks--are now almost universal on TVs with a screen that's 32 inches or larger. The following features, however, vary more widely among models and are among the most important to determining whether a particular set will meet your needs.

In concern to the quality on sony TV's. I dont know if they make em like they used to but I still have a Sony 32'' Trinitron from 1989 that was bought new for $1000.
