I bought a head unit from BB a couple of months ago, and wanted additional information on it because I am adding an amp. The model number is CDX-C4750. I go to the SONY website, and the web site has NO information on this car stereo! It is like the CD player in my car does not exist!

Wait...it gets better! I email them a nastygram, blasting them on the poor search feature of the site, and requesting information about the unit. Today (14 hours later) I get a response from my mail server saying that it cannot deliver the mail to SONY!

I tried crutchfield, and they do not sell the unit, therefor they have no info on it either. The pimply faced gnome selling car stereos at BB was useless as well. Does anyone know where a person can go to get information on car stereos that SONY produces?

Thanks in advance...

What are you looking for?
Does you head unit provide preamps? If it does then you can hook any amp to it. Do you still have the documentation for your HU?

That is the issue...I want to go out and buy the installation kit, and do not want to rip the head unit out if there is NOT a set of preamp outputs on it. I can wire the amp into the speakers at the source, but would prefer to go the other route. The head unit was a bear to install, and I did not want to add an hour to the install time of the amp simply becuase my gf threw out the damn manual (oh, you put the stereo in and it works, why would you still need the manual?).

Look at the cruchfield pictures, often models are slightly renamed to be sold at best buy

Hmm. May check that option out. Anyway,I know that there are at least one set of rca outputs on the back since my 10 disk cd changer runs off of them. The quesion is, are there a second set...

the 40w x 4 preouts is not line level rca outs,
that is the outs for normal speaker level outs which is what is being used now.
in any case how do you expect to hook up an amp to your system without removing the head unit???
i just did it to mine and since my current head unit doesnt have preamps i had to patch into the speaker level outs ( new head unit comign in about a week )
Id suggest taking the hu out first and just seeing what you got.
it might be your best bet because if you get false info and you DO have preamps then you are just wasting them.

I hooked the speakers in thru the MOLEX connector and an adapter, not thru the preouts. There was an RCA jack set for the cd changer. If the ad is correct, then there should be two more sets of preouts...I also have a sub with the amp, so I guess I can hook a set of preamps for the rears to the amp, run one set of wires to the sub and one set to the rears, right?

BTW, I bought the sub and amp from a friend who knew less about car stereos than I do. I have installed a half dozen head units but never wired an amp/sub before.

I have a 300 watt Amp and a dual 10 inch sub box.
