Hello,

I'm considering two laptops - the Sony VGN-SZ180P/C or the Asus W7J. I found a few places that are carrying the Sony and it goes for about $2600. I can't find very much info on the Asus yet. I'd prefer a black case but if the price is much less and coming out soon, I'll go with the Asus W7J. Does anyone know when the Asus W7J is coming out and the estimated street price(not list)?

Thanks

Can i ask what the purpose of this laptop is for? Because all aside the asus is a nice laptop, but its heavy despite its carbon fiber shell. I would suggest you stay away from sony. There way too over priced for the quality you get.

If your looking into a laptop for gaming, theres much better ones out on the market for cheaper, heck even the dell M170 will blow away the sony and the asus in games if configured with a 7800go.

If your looking for mostly work, and school, with little gaming, i would suggest a thinkpad. There built better then both the asus and sony, and people tend to respect you more when you pull out a thinkpad.

Lastly. if your heart is set on those two, id get the asus over sony any day of the week. Even the W7V is far better then the sony.

BTW whats the difference between the V and the J?

I'll be using it for work.

I want it ready for Vista

Both are around 4lb, have duo 2ghz processor, 1 gig of ram, sata2 hds, good video cards, and good screens.

I don't want something that is 6lbs and has those specs and I don't want something that is 4lbs but only has 1.6ghz single core processor or a 12" screen.

I think it has been mislabled the w7v I think the correct model is the w7j or maybe I have it backwards.
