Sony Vega or Wega?

pronounced Vega, spelled Wega...

Yup.

Their logo seems to confuse the slow among us, it is not two V's it is a single W.

Go look at their web page if you don't believe me.

Vega - the W is actually two V's

Look at this site -

http://www.sony.com.hk/Electronics/theatre/

The "W" is a light and dark V

To emphasize the pronunciation...It is spelled with a W

In the manual it says it's pronounced Vega. (VVEGA) At least in my older manual (I got a 36" when they first came out - like a dumbass. 🙂 Although it did have an awesome picture.

It's not two V's, it's just a W. They've changed the coloring of the W to more resemble V's because so many idiots aren't aware that in other languages W sounds like a V and vice-versa.

Exactly. The name "Vega" is derived from the star, which is spelt either with a "V" or a "W," depending on your location.

Both spellings are pronounced with a "vee" sound.

In the case of the television made by Sony, it's properly spelt "Wega."

End of discussion.

I always wondered how it was pronounced but I saw a Sony commercial not too long ago that described their "Vayguh" line of TVs
