Sony Vaio won't boot past manufacturer's logo

Hi All,
My 2 year old Sony Vaio suddenly stopped working. When I try to turn it on, the Vaio logo flashes on the screen for a second, then flashes on, and then back off again and continues flashing on and off every 2 seconds or so.

I have tried removing the battery but nothing has changed. Can someone help me? I can get into setup utilities by pressing F2 but I don't know what I'm doing.
