There is a free external CD-Rom by mail. But I can't found anything at www.sony.com/vaiorebate

Go back tomorrow to see if they will give me $100 instant rebate:p

tahts a good deal.. on outpost.. they have a similar deal for a celeron 600mhz, 10.4" svga tft and 2.99 lb's for $999 with 100 mail in rebate. free shipping too.

at under 3 pounds, i wouldn't mind a celeron 600 :)

I have no idea where you heard of the FREE external CD-Rom after rebate cause I sure have not. Also have no idea how you plan to get the $100 instant rebate when there is a MIR that you need to send into Sony.

EDIT: Looking at PriceGrabber right now and heres the link to the cheapest there and it seems to be slightly cheaper than Fry's. You guys do the math. It's not that bad, but the video card doesn't ticle my fancy that much and it wold be better to shell out the same amount for te SR33 for around $999 at Fry's and send in the rebate that way.

EDIT2: Also not totally sure on this, but if you are talkigna bout the laptop I think you are, I don't think you are eligible for the rebate according to here since you have the R505TL and not the R505TL/C. Don't as what the /C is since I have no idea and I'm dead tired right now otherwise I would check up on it. If anyone knows, fill this thread in so that we can see if this really is a hot deal once and for all.

Exactly so you can't get it unless you get the other stuff with it. O well, I'd actually much rather get the SR33 anywayz. Better laptop IMHO.

battery life is about the same on both. but i think the sr33 is under $899 after $100 mail in. and it comes with a 16xcdrom, that you dont have to mail out for. the r505 has a 12" screen though. and the sr33 is like 10.4 inchs. but the sr33 has an mb savage ix which is fast enough for games, whicle the i815 in the r505 is not. battery life is about the same. sr33 has 10 gigs, r505 has 15. also the r505 uses sodimms, and the sr33 you need to buy micro sodimms which are pretty expensive.
