I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere but PC Mall has the Sony Vaio RZ24G for $1099 with a $100 Sony Rebate available through July 31 2003. Everyone else is selling it for $1490 - $1684.

This is a good all in one media PC. Personally, I went for it because I have Sonypoints to spend so my final out of pocket cost will be much much lower.

Please no flaming on Vaios or how you could build this a lot lower. For anyone who is interested in these machines, a $400 drop is a hot deal.

Shipping was around $20 ($50 - $30 rebate). I'm in California so I was charged tax.

Although it's not xp media center it has all the features. I've already received my order and set up the computer. Few comments:

It comes with a remote - I really enjoy being able to use the remote just like it was a tv and a tivo. The one downside I see is that the remote only works with select applications. It's also quirky in that if you start some of the media programs from mouse clicks, the program won't respond to the remote.

You can use the computer for tv, dvr, dvd burning and mp3 server - I'm using the vaio as the entertainment center for my living room. I like the sony software that comes with the unit. Their DVD burning software can be really easy to use. Granted, sometimes it's too dummy proof. However, the day after I bought it I was able to record from a vhs tape and burn it to a CD within fifteen minutes. No need to read manuals.

Check out this site for info on Vaios. Apparently there is a cult following for these. FYI, I saw the xp media center and thought it was really cool. However, they were still at the $1500+ range which is too rich for my blood.
