Sony VAIO Notebook & Samsung 215TW problems

Hi people.

I'm having quite of an interesting problem. I got my Samsung SyncMaster 215TW today, and was in great hopes of getting finally some more screen real estate ? at least before my new workstation arrives. So ? I took everything out of the box, plugged it to my VAIO Notebook.

But the problem itself is a peculiar one ? namely, I can't get a signal to the monitor from this computer. This being a "lower end" VAIO Notebook, it doesn't have DVI output, only D-SUB/VGA. What confuses me, is that my old 17" CRT works great with this machine. I have also tested a LG Flatron 1717 on this one, which also works without any problems. The 215TW works great on other computers though. I tested it on my old workstation, both with D-SUB/VGA and DVI, without any problems.

I have also confirmed that it's not a resolution/refresh rate issue, because while starting up the computer, the VGA output is automatically on, and nothing shows up on the 215TW. I have tried shuffling through the monitor settings, without any luck, as well as looking through possible display settings, as well as updating firmware ? and of course the basic "look through your sources".

So ? I'm exhausted on solutions. Is this a familiar kind of problem, has it happened to somebody else and was/is there a solution?

Oh, and the machine's normal specs (just in case) are;
Model: Sony VAIO VGN-FS195VP
CPU: Intel Pentium M 1.6GHz
Memory: 1GB
Graphics: GeForce Go 6200 (32MB)

What happens when you connect another monitor to the computer ?

Have you tried setting the output of your vaio in terms of re and refresh to the exact same as the screen, may be that the screen doesnt suppor the mode you are trying to use.
