Sony Vaio Drivers (PCG-717 Applications Restore Disk)

I am fixing a laptop for a friend. turns out that I just re-installed win98se on his machine, but his machine doesn't have any drivers for the display and some other things. I looked on the net and also wrote an e-mail to Sony. I can't find the drivers I need ANYWHERE! I am trying to get my friend to look around for the application restore CD, but he doesn't know if he has it. This is where Sony says the drivers are. Anyone know where I can possibly go for this stuff? Anyone know of a good driver download page/ftp site?

There are many for the laptops at least, I don't know what machine your friend has.

He has a PCG-717. Anyone have a PCG-717 that has the Sony Applications Restore disk??

If all else fails I would reccomend installing Win2k PRO or even WinME (ack..did I just say that?) just for the sake of them both being really good about PnP detecting everything and installing the drivers automatically.

well,

it's his mom's laptop and I am re-installing over top of the old win98 install so that I can recover his old documents and progs. HE was not the saving or backup type. He is currently looking for the Application Restore Cd at home, but does anyone else have any insights????
