I'm interested in upgrading my Sony laptop to a SSD but I need help confirming I can with this particular model. It's a VGN-FW560 with the latest BIOS update, but unfortunately the BIOS is locked. I'm curious if anyone knows if I can run a SSD in it, and if so will AHCI be enabled? The BIOS is locked with almost nothing to change in there except boot priority. Thanks for any help.

just remove the bios lock and go to town?

back in the days we had to bust out the AT keyboard scan codes to load the bios password off a ibm laptop serial eeprom. That was pretty cool to do since ibm said it was impossible. some sort of eeprom that can be wiped by near field communication.

they mapped the bios password to simple keyboard scan codes (lame encryption but who would have thunk)
