sony universal remote emulates mce remote

i have the sony universal remote rm-ax4000. it works fine controlling anything.

the problem is in MCE. i cannot press "up" or "down" or "left" or "right" twice. if i want to go up twice, i have to press up, then left, then up. i cannot just press up then up. the original mce remote doesnt have this problem, i can just hold down any direction and it'll start scrolling.

there might be a setting on the remote for a time delay between repeats, check for it. Try lengthening the delay, it may be that if you hold it down it sends the signal too quickly (or too slowly) and as such mce is not probably receiving it.

As an aside, if you only bought that remote recently then I would seriously recommend returning it and getting a harmony (having had both (and a phillips pronto) I can say that the harmony's ease of setup is worth the loss of touch screen, and there is a touch screen harmony available for a bit more).

i will play around with the delay as u mentioned. thanks!
the harmony is prolly better, but i chose the sony because the led screen is easy to see in the dark.
