Sony trv38 camcorder batteries.

I found this site that has offbrand versions of Sony's batteries for like 2/3 the price. I was just wondering if they are fine to use or if people have some problems with them compared to the Sony branded Lithium Ions.

Not sure about off-brand batteries but B&H Video is usually a good source for mini-dv items.

I just recently noticed the off brand batteries too & was wondering the same thing...

the battery packs that ship with the cameras are pretty lame & I've been wanting to try some more juice...

cellphoneshop.net has some generic camcorder batteries too, but the cell phone batteries I've bought from them have been pretty poor quality.

Well I took the plung and got this. It is the equivalent to this, but without the led display.

bought a FM70 equivalant from eforcetrading on fleabay for 18.95 plus shipping...

have gone through two charging cycles....so far so good...

I sell these batteries for a living (along with laptop batteries), generally the "off-brand" or "3rd party" batteries are just as good (or better than) the name brands. Most "name brand" manufacturers don't make their own batteries, they just have them made with their name stamped on them and jack up the price.

It's funny because these have 2 year warranties while the Sony batteries only have one year warranties.

id appreciate that. thanks. im on the fence about it, because my mind is screaming "stop buying things you dont need!". but, i want to be prepared in case i need a camera for the future. so yeah, anything you can tell me about the functionability of your camera would greatly assist me in my deciding to purchase this camera.

One thing about it is that I thought the menu would be hard to use, but when I played with it at the local Best Buy, it was much easier to use then the other camera I was considering.

I just looked up the batteries on that site, I can get you a much better deal, the brand they are selling sucks. Wish I could advertise here, but I'm guessing it's against the rules. My advice, keep searching, you can find better. Go for the highest amp battery you can find. I have one for my Sony TRV that gives me about 12 hours before it needs a recharge.
