Sony TR1 Review...

It's nice to see OEMs integrating optical drives into such small, good-looking notebooks. I think the cam is useless and they should definitely use more metal on the body. If this thing had a nice all-metal body I'd actually buy it to supplement my T40. Like this, I have a feeling that it doesn't feel sturdy enough and it also seems that it would get dirty pretty fast... I also don't see why they couldn't put in a 4200RPM 80GB HDD...

I don't know... Just my two cents.

Unfortunately, no manufacturer currently ships any 80GB 1.8" disks. 40GB is tops right now.

Only two companies make these kinds of drives: Hitachi and Toshiba. Toshiba is the major manufacturer with 5, 10, 30, and 40GB models with only 512kb cache. Hitachi is making 20 and 40GB models with 2MB cache models. I'd like to see 60 to 80GB models in 1.8" sizes. While 5400RPM would be nice, higher areal density at smaller sizes would be more interesting. 4200RPM isn't so bad with high areal density and a large cache (I'd say 8 to 16MB would be nice).

You're right about that... Overlooked it...
