So i was at sony store today and overheard this conversation. Two customers were talking about LCD tv's contrast ratios. One guy who seemed very knowledgeable told another customers that the 16000:1 contrast ratio on the panel is fake and simulated, that no LCD has such high contrast ratio natively and high end plasmas such as the pioneer Kuro still has the upper hand in Image quality. (what he said is accurate and true).
Now a store salewoman overheard it and interupted him and blasted him of not knowing what he is talking about and that he shouldn't be talking about sony products because he is not an sony employee. The woman said the contrast ratio is indeed 16000:1 native, sony makes their own panels and LCD is superior to that of plasma.
The guy rebutted and said most high end LCD only has a hardware contrast ration of 1200:1 max and sony don't even make their own panels, they buy it from sharp or samsung. The second customer told saleswoman not to interupt their conversation and said he has no right to stop someone from talking about sony products.
