is the camera doing some noise removal or something in it's jpegs? What an amazing little camera. If I tried this on my Panasonic gx1, I would at least see some noise. Here I don't see any.

Definitely looks like some noise reduction going on. However you also have re-sized this photo to smaller than the original which also has the side effect of reducing apparent noise and making things looks a bit sharper. All that said however....it looks pretty damn good for 6400!
 
To be a nitpicky asshole, I could say something like "it's smearing a little detail to reduce noise".

Or I could just say, "Damn. That is pretty nice."
 
A RX100M2 (I have one) should theoretically be about as good as a APS-C/DX DSLR at ISO ~2000, thanks to BSI technology on their 1" sensor. I recently got a Nikon V1 as I think 1" sensors are already on par with older DSLRs in everything but depth of field control, which doesn't matter for the things I intend to do with the V1.
