This thing retails everywhere for about $175

This is the cadillac of remotes, or close to it!!!

Link to it

Shipping and handling is kinda high... like $15... but total of $107 shipped isn't bad!!!

PS-If you don't like it.... Keep it to Yourself... Don't thread Crap!!!

I have one of these remotes and it's awesome - if you have a home theater, definitely jump on this one!

This is a nice remote at a nice price. However, I ended up getting RM-VL900 for $40 'cus RM-AV2100 would be overkilled for my silly setup.

Nice remotes. I have the RM-AV2100 and its predecessor, the RM-AV2000. They don't seem to depreciate which is nice. I paid the same price for my AV2100 last Thanksgiving.

I have this remote and it is an absolute godsend. I went through literally about a dozen "universal" remotes before I found this one. I managed to completely program my entire home theater within 10 minutes of opening the box..

Yep, these puppies are great.

For instant gratification, bring a printed copy of the page to Sears, and get them to price match.
They're supposed to charge you shipping, but mine didn't. :)

As Rab mentioned, I got it at Sears last week PMing with ecost.com for $92.75. (they did not add shipping cost).
Later I found the same thing for $86.99 here
Electronics mall
Reviews, Tips and a lot of other info could be found here

I was gonna purchase this from Electronics Mall, but they want $19.95 to ship it to me in Missouri....and this is for ground!! This is way too much for ground shipping unless this thing weighs a ton!

E-cost wants $105.xx total
Electronics Mall wants $106.xx total

Since both of these online vendors have almost the exact total price, which one is a more recommended vendor to deal with? I've not done any business with either. Does anyone have any input as to which one is better to purchase from??? I checked out both sites return policies and guarantees and they both don't sound so great. thanks

Approx. 4 3/4" x 7" x 1 13/16"

wow!! That thing's a lot bigger than my Vx! lol give it a year and you could buy a V that does basically everything that does using OmniRemote for probably the same price.

Anyone know of a programmable "learning" remote that doesn't take two hands to operate? I need one for my basement gym ;) I wanna get that Apex 500W to play mp3 cds to replace the broken 5 disc changer, but I don't wanna have to carry the receiver's and apex's remote, would be nice to have a all-in-one solution.

hmmmm . . . how well does that "15 Macro control functions allow a series of up to 16 consecutive operations to be executed by one touch" thing work? That'd be kinda cool to press one button and have it turn the receiver on, switch to CD input, turn the Apex on and start playing mp3s. hmmm . . .

I know it's O/T, but does anyone know if the Apex requires a TV plugged in to play mp3s or can it play mp3 cds without the TV being plugged in? If it can play without a TV, what's it display on the LCD screen? Track #? mp3 name?

1greatguy - the macros are great! It works just the way you suggested - I hit one button and my TV turns on, receiver turns on and sets itself to receive cable input, and the remote switches itself to the cable display so I can immediately begin channel surfing. Another press of a single button switches the TV to DVD input, switches the receiver to DVD input, and turns on the DVD player. It also switches the display on the remote screen to the DVD display so I don't have to press any more buttons to control the DVD player. Then another macro to switch back to cable, etc, etc, etc.

The only thing I had to get used to was remembering to turn the remote off when I'm not using it. It runs on batteries, and of course if you leave the thing on all the time it will eat through them like mad. Although it will shut itself off after a certain amount of time. Oh, and it has a backlight so it's easy to use when the lights are turned down.

1greatguy, Radio Shack has a couple of nice programmable remotes for under $40. And if you just need a few keys, WalMart sells an "All-In-One" brand for about $20 that has 4 programmable keys per bank (with I think 6 banks--each bank being an individual component).

The Sony is about the highest rated remote control.

It takes a little bit to get used to it.

But there is a COMPLETE Web Site dedicated to just Remote Controls.

The link is
RemoteControl.com

There is enuff stuff located here to keep a wise man reading for days and days.

The SONY RM-AV2100 specific location is located here: Sony 2100 Pages Here

They also have a Q&A Forum located here for the Sony:
Sony AV2100 Forum Link

For anyone interested in AV Remote Controls (all kinds), as well as Technical advice, user advice, and additional component codes, This Website Rocks ! It is one of those Websites that you just Bookmark and treasure and from time to time, you go back to it.

Good Luck to all !

I apologize for possibly posting links that apparently do not work, due to my lack of knowledge about proper posting procesures.

But, not to keep people from learning about this Incredibly
wonderful site concerning all types of AV Remote Controls,
allow me to pls post the URL's manually.
People can then copy and paste.

The HOME page of the website: http://www.remotecentral.com/

The SONY RM-AV2100 Main Review Page starts here:
http://www.remotecentral.com/av2100/index.html

The Sony RM-AV2100 Programming Pages start here:
http://www.remotecentral.com/sony/program.htm

The Sony AV Remotes Forum pages are here:
http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/mboard/rc-sony/list.cgi

Again, good luck to all. This really is a GREAT Remote !
And I hope enjoy learning about and using this website (which I have no connection with, except to use it alot).

Uh, you suck?!?

you dont know how much of an asset a GOOD remote control is until you got 8-9 components, a couple recievers, MP3 computers connected to you HT, etc.

You can spend $300 with the newest pronto.

I do recommend visiting remotecentral. good site, forums are nice too.

Thanks,

Thats why I posted it....
Some guys will spend thousands of dollars on audio video...

Then whine about $100 to consolidate all 6 remotes they have, Kinda sad... LOL

I kinda like having 15 different remotes...it keeps my girlfriend from figuring out how to use things ;) Otherwise I would come home to the Crafts Channel blasting in surround sound every day. Thanks, but no thanks.
