The Ipod Nano looks cool and is tiny, but the Sony PSP can do so many other things.

If it makes your choice any easier, I'm going to get a new lcd.

Now, do I wanna spend twice as much and get the 24" one?...

well it depends what you want ...

if you want to play games, watch movies or media, and also listen to music, buy a PSP + 1Gb stick (not to mention it'll cost you more)

if all you want to do is listen to music, get the nano cause it holds much more and is tiny as you said.

There's now a firmware downgrader for the PSP, so even with a 2.0 firmware unit you can step back to 1.5 and run emulators and other homebrew stuff to expand the range of capabilities of the PSP.
So if you just want something to listen to music, get the iPod. Otherwise, the PSP is a much cooler toy.

I've got a PSP and I love the thing (though my current financial situation may force me to sell it). Homebrew makes the PSP all worth it :D

why dont you try both out at a store and then decide...the difference in size and functionality will be hard to judge unless you have them in your hands

play around with both for a while im sure that will make your choice easier.

They're already coming out with 2.1 firmware that prevents this from what I understand.

PSP definitely. So much more you can do with it, and unless you need the high capacity of Nano, I see no reason to buy it over the PSP.

Well, the question is....do you want to do all those other things that the PSP can do or do you just want to listen to music? Keep in mind that you'll need to spend money on one or more of Sony's overpriced memory sticks.

Personally I'd opt for the PSP. It's more unique. Dedicated mp3 players will become largely passe in another year or two when cell phones quickly begin gobbling up their functionality.

question is whether you actually have a use for portable gaming. its not like u'd play it home or something with so many other better options there. so unless u got plenty of time outside the home where you have long periods of dead time it seems like a toilet toy.

Look at it from a chicks point of view...

Dude playing with a psp on (subway, parkbench, bus, while walking into said chick not paying attention) = DORK

Dude listening and groving to his own beat while (x, y, z) = COOL Mysterious guy

PSP, this shouldn't even be a debate IMHO.

The only thing that should be a debate is are you willing to spend the money on the PSP games and memory sticks afterwards.

Dude actually talking to the girl trying to glean information that will get him onto her pants = Dude that will wind up hosing the girl.

Fixed

I have a PSP (value pack including spider man 2) with no dead pixels, lumines and twisted metal all in mint condition. I voted PSP, and you should buy mine. :p
