Sony PSP Has 2.5 Hour Battery Life

Wonder how that will compare with the Big N's new handheld.

But with that battery life, Gameboy will still own the market.

that is the battery life if you want to watch a movie on it, not the battery life for playing a game...try watching a movie on a Nintendo handheld before your 'laughter commences'

Well, no matter what it's got the nGage beat.

Where do you see this info at? What's expected battery life when playing games?
BTW, you CAN watch a movie on a GBA, it's just very impractical to do so.

Don't know where you got that info...article clearly says 2.5 hours with video, 10 hours audio only (meaning mp3 playback.) Although it seems Sony was bent on delivering this in a nice slim form factor, but for folks looking for more playing time they can get an extended battery pack that makes the unit a bit fatter.

If that were the case, then the battery life would actually be shorter durring a game, since you're not only using the screen at full, but you're using the processors at full too(instead of in a low-speed mode for video decoding). Gaming is the hardest thing you'll be doing on the PSP, so 2.5 hours better be the worst case number for that.

I understood all of that except for MOFOBG...what is that?

BGIZT3HBADGAM3...MOFOIZMOFOKBYE!

I'm eating lunch at work, and I spent the minute and a half to figure this out. I think it was worth it.

I wouldn't have gotten BG without the explanation. Thanks!

The PSP contains a lithium-ion 1,800mAh battery inside, though exactly what good this will do is a point of some contention. Hirai compared the system's battery life to that of existing portable music players, game systems, and DVD players, but things got a little dodgier after that: the number cited for the DVD player was 2 hours, while the number cited for portable game machines was 10 hours. Our guess is that the way to read this is that anything read off static media like memory sticks will be close to the 10 hours, while spinning the proprietary UMD discs will bring the capacity down to about 2 hours. However, we'd be happy to be proven wrong.
read the 1up article, nobody knows how long the battery life is

I mean 2.5 hours is terrible but, I'm not impressed with the new Nintendo DS pics. It looks gigantic and totally awkwards to hold. I love my GBA SP and like that it is backwards compatible with GBA games and that alone will probably have me buying one but I'm not sure if it will deter people from buying the PSP.

you can watch movies on the PSP? How? The system takes mini-dvd looking discs. are they gonna release movies on these? or are we going to have to shrink our dvd9's all the way down to dvd3's?

call me a fanboy, but... I have absolute faith in Sony that this product will rock.

the 2.5 hour battery life hasn't been confirmed, and I seriously doubt that it's true. no one would be that stupid when designing a portable system.

That's what I took they're statement for when I read it.

Nintendo is TEH WINNAR!!!
I guess I know what ill be buying....besides. The DS is backwards compatible with all the other games still.
