SCEE boss David Reeves says E3 was a phoney war

SCEE's president and CEO David Reeves has told MCV that E3 was a phoney war, and that Sony will let off the first of its peak season ?fireworks? in Leipzig next month.

Talking exclusively to MCV, he intimated that a series of big announcements will be made at the Game Convention trade and consumer show in Germany ? massively enhancing the appeal of both the PlayStation 3 and PSP.

?We prefer to make our big statements in Leipzig, it suits us much better,? Reeves told MCV. ?Yes it has been a bit of a slow summer, but we feel that we have kept the momentum going.

?There will be absolute fireworks at peak, that I can promise you. We will be doing things no-one has seen yet for both PS3 and PSP.?

More marketing and PR from Sony. Let's hope they aren't lying to us again :).

Just off the top of my head, I'm going to go ahead and guess that it will be a PSN-downloadable, playable MGS demo. I have absolutely no basis for my guess, but if I'm right, I will then be deemed awesome.

I'm thinking a movie/music service.

edit: LOL I read that article twice and missed them predicting the same thing.

But didn't they already announce that? I realize it's still kinda big but the initial announcement is the one that makes the "fireworks."

I think its something they've been hinting at but never officially announced. Not even a demonstration of what it might look like or encompass.

They've already announced the service for Korea a while ago, although I'm not sure if it has been rolled out yet. Also worth noting is that Korea originally got the 80 gig PS3 because of plans for their VOD service would use the extra space. Perhaps the launch of the 80 gig PS3 in the US will coincide with the North American VOD service.

I'm guessing Solitare is coming to the PSN.

I'm sorry, I just hate announcments about announcments. Remember the xbox360 guy's "world changing annoucment"? It turned out to be pac Man on XBOX LIVE.
