Both have great reviews. I have a slightly older lnt40inch samsung. It is not 10bit panel, but is 1080p. Any of you have either the sony or the samsung?
Sony is 600 more bux on Amazon. Samsung is 1300 bux.
I bought a TH50PZ81B panasonic for £1350. The Pioneer 50 was £2000. It did look about 5-10% better, but the design of the screen was a lot more clean cut but I couldn't justify it in the end. £700 will make a decent contribution to the 5.1 setup you can get.
I wouldn't put them in different leagues in anything but price (Thanks Sony)
Both use the same panels
Both are 10 bit
Both are 120Hz
Both use Matte Screens
Both have good processing engines (I do not consider the Bravia anything special over Samsungs engine, and I have a very discerning eye for video noise and blocking issues since I worked on Video Quality of codecs for 2 years)
For 50-100 bucks more I might consider Sony but for over 100 (or 600) it is a no brainer Samsung all the way.
If you are in the market for a higher end TV, look at the Pioneer and Pioneer Elite line. They are much better screens than both the Samsung and Sony. I have a Bravia XBR4 in the my bedroom and would put the Pioneer miles ahead of it.
