Sony Note book

I just purshased a Sony PCG-FX140. Great looking note book. But my problem is the speaker volume. Now I know that they are not going to be like a home stereo but when I play a DVD I should at least be able to hear it without using head phones which by the way it's not that great either. Does anyone have this model and does yours do the same thing. Windows sounds are not to bad but the Audio CD's isn't that great either.

If this is normal for this note book then back to the store it goes. How about HP note book's. How's the sound on them and how is the DVD play back?

In general, DVD audio depends on the program playing it more the the volume capabilities of the NB. On several of my DVD capable NBs, I notice that the asustek sw plays the sound very low. When I use the ATI sw the dvds play MUCH louder. I know these programs are some othe dvd sw engine, I just dont recall which ones right now. Try playing with dif progs if you can. Windvd plays louder also.

i don't think the notebook would have problems as bad as you say....

click on the speaker in the task bar... and well, lemme think, i'm in unix right now, so bare with me

in like properties or something you can show all the audio properties for play back, make sure there all turned up...

for instance, my tv tuner has low sound volume, unless i turn up aux out....
gd luck!
