First of all, they need to get rid of the entire wallet BS. Why can't you just charge my credit card for the items I buy, why do you have to add money to the wallet first? Imagine if Amazon tried to pull that BS.

I've bought multiple games and expansions from PS Store over the last year or so and other than the Wallet nonsense, never had a problem. I tried to take advantage of the Batman sale yesterday and when I went to check out got a message "your transaction may not be complete, check your transaction history under account settings". Aside from the improper grammar in that error message, I was not sure what the heck the problem was. So I went in, deleted my credit card and re-entered it. Still got the error message.

I went to live chat and the agent told me to re-enter my card and make sure my account address was the same as the credit card address. When that didn't fix the problem, the agent suggested that I add funds to my wallet. The items I wanted to purchase came to $17.98, but I could only add $5.00, $10.00 or $25.00 to my wallet.
Okay, WTF, why can't I just add exactly what I want to my wallet? Even though I complained that I shouldn't have to add more money to my wallet than I wanted to spend, I tried it and it still didn't work.

Then the agent suggested I make the purchases through the console interface, but I was at work and not near my console. I was trying to purchase a PS4 add on and a PS3 add on. When I got home I was able to purchase the PS4 add on through my PS4, but when I tried to purchase the PS3 add on through my PS3, I got and error again.

I'm not the only one who has experienced this, because I did a google search and found multiple instances of people complaining about this problem.

This type of crap doesn't give me confidence for a digital future with Sony.

The worst experience for me was when I hadn't bought anything on my PS4 at all or ever entered my credit card information on it but they charged me for a year of PS+. I had only ever bought probably $30 worth of stuff on PS3 and this was back like 3-4 years before this happened. And when PS4 launched I won one from Taco Bell and it came with a free PS+ subscription for a year. And to redeem it I entered a 12 digit code on PSN. Apparently even using a code to get a year of PS+ means you are signing up for auto-renewal for a year. Which is complete bullshit and I ended having them reverse the charge or I was going to do a chargeback on my credit card because I never authorized it.

I haven't had any technical issues like mentioned in the OP, but I also think the wallet crap is BS. Didn't MS used to do that with their point system and eventually stopped?

Wait, you said you had never entered your CC info into your PS4, yet they still charged you for it? Your post kind of contradicts itself.

When I buy something from PSN it adds funds only for the amount of the item I am buying. It says it is adding funds because it first checks to see if you have entered any pre-paid cards and still have a balance. Once it uses that it will use your card to "add the remaining funds" It's literally the same as buying something from Amazon for me. I don't see the problem with that but I haven't gotten any errors before. Also you can use store.playstation.com and purchase things that way if you have trouble using the console interface and you can tell your PS4 to download it from the browser interface if it's in standby mode.

Yea even when I buy a game for odd dollar amounts I never have issues using my card for that exact amount.

My problem WAS from the playstation store website. That is the way I prefer to buy items, because I usually buy multiple items at a time spread across PS3, PS4 and PSVITA. Also the interface on the website is MUCH better than through the console.

I've bought multiple items in the past with no problems...and yes when it charged my credit card, it only added that amount from my wallet. But this week, the playstation store website would not charge the same credit card that I have already used 2 or 3 times this year.

I was trying to buy items for both PS3 and PS4....so the agent told me to buy them through the console. That worked for the PS4...but not for the PS3. So if my credit card worked for buying through the PS4....why didn't it work for buying through the PS3, or through the Playstation store website? That is some sort of screw up by Sony, and Sony is known for constantly screwing up the online aspects of Playstation.

So the agent told me the preferred way is to go buy a Playstation store gift card. Also, when I googled the problem, everyone else said that is what they were told. Why should I go buy a $20 Playstation Store gift card when I want to buy a $12 item? Of if I want to by a $21 item, I have to buy two cards ($10 and $20).

This is apparently a fairly well documented problem, and it's ridiculous that a big company like Sony is having such problems with a digital retail store in an age when digital retail is king.

It isn't like buying from Amazon. Amazon doesn't require you to add funds to a wallet before making a purchase. If I have an Amazon gift card, it allows me to enter that code, and then whatever the remainder is, I can charge a credit card. Not to mention Amazon doesn't have a minimum purchase limit....Playstation store requires you to add at least $5 to your wallet. So say I want to buy Flower which is $1.95 on the Playstation store this week. If I buy it with a credit card (if their janky store even allows me to use a CC), I will be charged $5, and be left with $3.05 in my wallet. Or say I have $6 in my wallet and I want to buy the Ratchet and Clank Collection, which is $7.99 this week. I can't add the $1.99 to the wallet to buy that, I have to add $5 to the wallet, and $7.99 will be removed for the game and $3.01 will be left in the wallet.

Heh, never realized they did this draconic bs. Nintendo did, and I never used it. F that noise. I actually never realized they did away with it because I couldn't be bothered to even try anymore. According to that article they no longer do it.

Yeah Nintendo lets you just pay for what you want. I bought GEM on Switch 2 weeks ago and I only had to spend the $12.99 on it.

I can live with it on PS Store since they have so many great games dirt cheap. I have gotten so many awesome games like Okami, Ni No Kuni, the two God of War collections, Journey, and a lot of other great PS3 and PS4 games for $5 or less in their sales. I never seem to see sales as good on the XBox Store, though I will confess I don't look as much since I don't have my 360 hooked up right now (while I do still play my PS4 and PS3). I always just buy the gift cards anyways for the PS Store since I don't trust Sony with my credit card info with how many times they have been hacked. It's a little annoying to not spend every cent from my PS wallet, but I can live with it when I'm getting games I want for really good prices.

Well, you brought up another reason Sony needs to fix their crap...getting hacked.

I don't check Xbox Store as much either, and I don't really think it is as easy to browse as Playstation Store....but I did get Limbo and Witcher 2 for free from Xbox Store. No better sale than free. I also got Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3 and Gears of War Judgment for free, just for buying Gears of War Ultimate. I also got codes to get those games free for buying Gears of War 4.

How did you get Witcher 2 for free?

I believe there was a thread on this board one day that said Microsoft was giving it away free, or I might have seen it on Gamesradar or something. They did the same thing with Limbo the week Inside came to Xbox One.
