So there I was, right in front of a friggin Dell Ultrasharp 18";

I love monitors. I love crispy, sharp, brilliant images, and my SONY CRT was giving me just that, but I grew a tad tired about its size and age, and decided to test something else... and that something else was a Dell Ultrasharp LCD 18".

I was offered to take it on payments, by a friend. DVI connector, a tad heavy, looked good.

So I got home and plugged it into the DVI connector of my Radeon 9800SE... only to find a less than ultra sharp image. Somehow, brightness was less than with my CRT monitor, and being a very VERY exagerated lover of crispy, neat images, I found that this LCD, inspite of being DVI, was NOT on par with my SONY analog CRT.

Ah... what a dissapointment. CRTs are for me, no doubt. This 4 year old SONY monitor has the best image quality I've seen on any monitor... even new CRT models like Samsung's Syncmaster 957DF.

*hugs Sony crt monitor* untill death tears us appart.

Ummm, you are surprised that a 2-3 year old LCD is not that great? Why not look at a modern screen and get back to us...

Terribly expensive. Besides, I've looked at some Samsung LCD monitors... like the 912N, and it still falls widely on image quality and image contrast.

I thought that was because it was analog, so I had high hopes for DVI; bleh.

Are you suggesting that his monitor only takes the anolog singal from the DVI cable?

Will take a great 19" LCD to top the G400 , I have a 5 year old G400 thats used on my 2nd PC and the picture is still superb & vibrant. I remember when I first saw it at the store on the 'wall of monitors' the picture quality literaly stood out of the crowd.

I agree. My 4 year old monitor is as crispy as it was when I pulled it out of its box.
