Sony Monitors

I am going to get a 21 inch monitor, and being pleased with my multiscan e200 in the past I have decided on a sony. But I'm not sure whether the g520 or the e500 is the way to go. I know the e500 has been discontinued, but it is available locally. What are the differences between it and the g520, which I would have to order online? Can someone reccomend a reliable place to order a g520, at a reasonable price from? (<800) Thanks
(I know about higher refresh rates at insane resolutions that wouldn't be comfortable to use anyways)

I have several g500 and looking to get the g520, the g500 is so much sharper than the viewsonic p815 i had.. even at above 1700x1600

Well the thing is the f-series is way out of my price range. The G is affordable, but is it reallybetter? Or does it have features that I wont use, such as the multiple computers hooked up to it? It has slightly higher refresh rates at 20xx x 18xx but I doubt I'd be running regularily, if ever at that size. both the e and g are .24 and have the same max res. size. The G is not available locally, but the E is. So I would need to find somewhere trustworthy to order from for the G, can someone reccomend? Thanks

TheParmster, you can find all you want to know about the diff's between the different SONY monitor at this URL: SONY Displays Support Oh, for the record I have the G400 and love it. Hope this helps.

<--sony 420gs

amazing monitor. all sony monitors are great. I dont think you could go wrong with any of them.

I order mine from tech on web before and all 3 box looked like it's been rough up pretty bad... like the tape was old and stuff... but last week buy.com had free shipping on the g520 @ $680 or 720.. forgot... free shipping is good for large item like this..

sony's G series (and above) are beautiful monitors.

I own a samsung 900nf and have used other fairly mid-high end monitors and the sony's still stand out as being better monitors. With a matrox card, it's heaven.

for myself i have a hard time with the monitior i have. i need one that will work with my eyesight without me feeling like i been stareing at the sun to long.........

Jen, what monitor do you have now? My eyes are a bit sensative to bright monitors as well, so when I first got my G400, the first thing I did was turn down the brightness quite a bit. Next, I got an anti-glare screen and all was well. I've gotten so used to anti-glare screens and not I can't use a monitor w/o one. Hope this helps.

i have a 17 inch KDS Avitron monitior at this time. i have tried every setting i could think of to make it easier on my eyes. I cant play games cause of the strain it puts on my eyes. as such i dont play games with the computer

Jen, since you didn't mention if you have a glare filter, I would suggest tyring one. W/ a quality glare filter, one that is tinted and offers anti-static protection, you will be able to turn up the brightness quite a bit and still have comfortable viewing. Hope this helps.

I own a Sony F520, best monitor out there I think, especially if you play games. If you get an F520 make sure you get BNC to DB15 connector to go with it, it makes for a cleaner image.

Thanks for the link, but I was already there. It doesn`t really tell any difference. On some sites they show the G520 as 80 hz and the G520P as 85 hz,but other than that I can`t find any differences.

Teh G series are a lot better and have better warranty, 3 years compared to 1 for E series. But Sony monitors are really overpriced and not really need it. I'm using a G200 right now and love it, but i've seen monitors for half the price with way better color. (yes i tweak my monitor a lot)
