Ok, essentially the situation is this:
I've had this 17" Sony Multiscan E200 for at least a few months now (don't remember the exact date that I bought it) and something's always been bugging me. No matter which drivers I install -either those by Sony themselves or the ones by microsoft- the monitor's properties never seem to get read correctly. The name of the monitor itself in the drivers appears to be Sony 200ES (that's the closest one I could find), but these pose a few problems:
1) Max. Resolution is limited to 1280x1024 instead of 1600x1200 which is the listed max reso. on both sony's website and in the monitor's manual
2) Max. Refresh Rate is capped at 75hz no matter which resolution I choose, when again both the monitor's manual and sony's website list max. refresh rate at 85hz up to 1280x1024 (except for Macintosh 1024x768 which I don't use considering I'm PC)
Now the Max. Res. problem I don't much mind as I'm not quite psycho enough to use a 1600x1200 desktop resolution anyways, but the max refresh rate bug does bother me quite a bit. The temporary solution I've found is to install the drivers for sony's G200 17" monitor instead of those for the E200. This lets me choose refresh rates up to 100hz (though of course the highest I go is 85), though it still bugs me that the standard display drivers for this monitor don't even correctly detect its settings. Hell, if I let windows do the work and select Optimal for refresh rate then it gets bumped down to 60hz.
Anyone have any similar problems and hopefully solutions with/for this monitor? Thanks in advance.
