Sony Minidisc Software Hack Plea

I was thinking of getting a new mini-disc recorder because I had one before and loved it for the shock protection, but just couldn't stand the Sony software where you had to "check-in" and "check-out" mp3s that you put on the disc.

I am pretty sure that there is a hack that allows you to mount the MD as a hdd, and then the driver does all the converting and stuff, but I can't seem to find it by googling.

Does anyone have a Sony MD player that has this hack and knows where to get it?

Or...is there another MD player with LD4 capability that has good software to use?
