Well Sony announced they're leaving the <21" CRT market, tubes and all. Big news, can't say I agree with the move though. LCD's are nice but they've got a while to go before they compare to a good quality CRT.

You can have my gdm-f500 why you pry it from my cold (poor circulation) dead hands. :)

I've never had good luck with sony hardware, be it CD player, CDrom, HeadPhones...etc. I don't buy from them anymore.

It might just be me, but I think their products are too cheaply built. :(

I agree. I lost respect for Sony when I purchased a $300+ Sony head unit from their suppposed ES line and I found out it had absolutely no skip protection whatso-f*cking-ever.

By the way, this was posted in General Hardware a little while ago. Check it out for more comments.

I've always thought Sony audio equipment (home and car) and their phones sucked. But their TV's and monitors are awesome. I've bought only Sony TV's and monitors for the past 6 years.

I bought Sony everything in the 80's and early 90's. Since mid-90's, Samsung has been the biggest supplier of my electronic goods (especially the monitors, TV and cellphones).

When will be the new CRT's announced?

The 21" SONY F520 looks perfect (especially the high resolution and also the nice black/silver design) so
I hope they leave it on the market until I am able to buy it - within next 6 months. Are there some infos
about the next product line?

I would think it will become cheaper after they discontinue the product and vendors try to clear their inventory for the new product line. Might be a good time to buy then :)

This news saddens me, both because I like Sony as a brand and because I don't want to see CRT availability dwindle. LCDs just suck donkey balls compared to CRTs and to add insult to injury they're far more expensive too.

've never had good luck with sony hardware, be it CD player, CDrom, HeadPhones...etc. I don't buy from them anymore.
I've had quite the opposite experience - all of their products work really well for me and I insist on them by brand. In particular, I've had my Walkman since 1995 and my Discman since 1997 and they're both still going strong.
