1: a P2 333 is "a good enough laptop for casual use" (net, word proc, email)

2: Dont buy a laptop with the intent of upgrading anything but the RAM and hard drive

3: Dont buy it if it's only to play with, buy real toys like a game console, Anime, or whatever

4: Dont buy a laptop for 3d games

I assume this one has a 15in screen. I have the 215 and it's the same but has a 700 Duron. I really like it and take it everywhere I go. I can play some games on it, but they are mostly real time stradegy (age of empires, star trek armada II) and they play fine. Don't think I'll fire up quake on it though. I got mine last Aug for around 1500.00, and your getting quite a bit better hardware for less. I say go for it. They only downside is that getting driver updates from sony is a bitch. Since they released XP drivers, it has been flawless (mine came with ME). If it comes with ME get rid of it quick. I assume it comes with XP. Also like someone else said, there is really nothing to upgrade on a laptop other than ram and the HD. Hope that helps,

The keyboard on Sonys is really bad in that keys are placed in a non-standard fashion. Look closely: the PgUp, PgDn and other keys on the right are all aligned along the right edge of the keyboard, aren't they?

I have a different model of Sony, but I'm sure yours will have the same positioning problem.

I personally recommend Dell or Compaq...
