Sony Laptop won't power up

This happened once under warranty as well. I've heard this is not uncommon, 3 yr old Sony Vaio, PCG-GR370, but would like some advice. Removed the battery as I was told that if the battery is bad, it is sometimes will cause this result. Other than that, nothing else has been attempted.
