Sony laptop battery calibration question

I have an older PIII Sony laptop that i just bought a new battery for and I was wondering if there is a battery calibration option in the BIOS(I looked quickly but could not find one), or a procedure that Sony has put out? I talked with their tech line and they had no clue on how to do it.

I've a Dell laptop, and have worked on a few in the past, but I'm not sure what you mean by battery "calibration". Could you enlighten me a little?

From what I understand the laptop charges the battery and then drains it to make sure the battery meter is calibrated to the new battery.

Generally Sony laptops can be a ah heck to track down battery life remaining. I reinstalled xp on one and never again did i get the battery life calibration working again.
