sony laptop 1 1/2 yo bad m/b what do i do with it?

Cost $2200 new. Perfect condition. Just stopped booting. Local sony repair place wanted $700 to replace motherboard, but honest repair tech said it was not worth it since I could buy new one for that amount. Seems like such a shame.... Perfect screen, harddrive, cpu and memory... Is it just good for the trash bin?
 
totaly depends on the specs of the laptop if its decent it may be worth fixing but shop around 700 dollars for a motherboard repair for the laptop seems very very high, I'm willing to be you can find someplace that will do it cheaper if it was a fairly common model.
