Went to the SonyStyle store at the Premium Outlet Mall In Wrentham, MA. Picked up this combo for $550+tax. All items are factory new, in sealed retail boxes, with full warranty.

KDL 40S5100 - 40" HDTV 1080p 60hz
BDP-S360 - Blu-ray player
DLC-HD24T - 8ft HDMI cable

This same combo at Walmart.com is $920 and that's without the 3 yr no-interest.

That seems like a rather good deal. Hopefully it isn't just at Wrentham, MA. Wrentham outlets have a few days each year with absolutely INSANE deals, so it wouldn't surprise me if this was a one time thing that OP is bragging about..

No linky.....B&M only.

Sony must be overstocked on the 40" & 46" "S" series HDTVs. The salesman said that they had at least 20 each left of these sizes. He also said that they moved close to 800 HDTVs on black Friday alone. He also said that these are unadvertised in that Sony has to move stock but at the same time they want to protect the normal retail outlets such as Best Buy, Walmart, etc.

Isn't one time, this has been going on since Black Friday.

well a lot of companies are holding huge inventories of old 60hz panels which the S series is.

they are older gen, and it costs nothing more to actually build a 120hz panel. they have to clear these out or write off the loss.

I've been told by people in the industry that LED backlights actually cost less to build in volume, so eventaully all the CCFL tvs will get firesaled next year too...
