Oooh, i owned this one...well not exactly this one, but the blueish-white T68i version, first Sony Ericsson. I bought it from second-hand cheaper, not for full price, but i loved it for some reason, i still have it somewhere...
After that i had K750i and W890i... i always liked their design, in fact still do, the Xperia Arc is IMHO best looking Android Phone...but i lost faith in their technical skill, the W890i, i still use, although IMHO very pretty and stylish phone, is horrible, it freezes like hell and sometimes reboots itself...i tolerated it for 3 years, as i am not that type making phone-calls non-stop, but today i went and bought iPhone 4S:cool: And now i read there wont be SE brand anymore, so i guess it was a fate...:p

I like to hook up my devices to the TV, and I hated having to worry about burn in with plasmas. I switched to LCDs and I haven't looked back since, though maybe burn in is not an issue anymore?

i have a customer with two 60" LCDs hanging on the wall for their scada system. they realized there was burn in after about a year when i shut down their system for some maintenance. the manager was pissed, his IT dept recommended the LCDs to avoid burn in. this is under extreme circumstances tho, it was on 24hrs a day and always on the same interface page. it was very noticeable when we changed the design.

i had an office with dell 20" 2001 fp monitors. and they still burned in. jsut regular LCD monitors, and it got burned on with that "this pc is locked screen" after maybe 7 days during a holiday week. apparently some kvm we had messed up the power management and it just got stuck like that and never turned off....

Not sure I would have much fate in Sony. It wasn't so long ago that Sony was the main TV, music and gaming brand now where are they? Like a lot of Japanese companies over the last 10 years they lacked the vision. Staying with Plasma too long(Panasonic are still wasting their time on it although it never had a future outside of large TV's), staying with disc based music for too long and then not realising that mobiles were going to be come a hub for everything.... Sony had the potential to have it all but will end up with nothing.

meh. I will always choose plasma over LCD. always.

--as long as I'm still able to make that choice.

I seemed to have moved this off-topic...

My point is that I don't see Sony doing any better than SE, as over the last 10 years they have completely screwed up their core business so why will do they any better at a market they don't understand. A while back(9-12 months) Sony said they were going to become the worlds number 2 tablet maker yet we haven't seen single tablet from them that is going to make ANY impact on the market. They are just living on the name that they made in the 80-90's... but that will fade quickly.

Oh, I can't imagine them doing anything swell with phones--but as for screwing their core business, I can only attributing that to dumb marketing and yes--some dumb gimmick tech decisions--memory stick, and all related.

They do, still, make some excellent products--their displays remain fantastic, the alpha cameras are amazing for what they are, PS3 is a wonderful device.

It's mostly the stigma that has now been attached to them because of dumb decisions. I suppose this is essentially what you are saying--but they do make some fine devices. (PDP was always a fine technology, and still remains superior to any LCD offering, in general.)
